A member of parliament for the Assin Central Constituency, who is also a flagbearer hopeful of the New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has described the state of Ghana as one that is being polarised by politics.

The outspoken politician bemoaned how the country is blessed with viable and arable lands in some parts of it but still suffers and begs for alms from international organisations and countries.

He said everything has been politically themed in the country, and that is contributing to the retardation of the country’s developmental agenda.

He made these statements during an exclusive interview on TV3’s New Day show on August 16, 2023.

According to him, party politics have blinded and sickened the country from acknowledging such good prospects that can make Ghana an African feeder. He mentioned that should he become President in 2025, he will use the Volta region and the northern regions of Ghana to feed the whole of Africa.

He added that his visit to the Volta region during his campaign tour opened his eyes to how fertile the land and soil in the region are and how productive they can become for the production of cassava-related products.

Mr. Agyapong called for bipartisanship in the governance of the country, which he is a firm advocate for. He explained that when there’s bipartisanship in the country, idea pooling can be effective for the efficient and effective exploitation of untapped “gold” in Ghana.

He further advocated for Ghana to have a visionary leader who can instill in the people the spirit of patriotism and loyalty. He said when there’s loyalty among the people, there can be honesty from the leaders of the country as well.
