The controversial Constitutional Instrument C. I. 126 will be maturing by close of day today.
The C. I. which is Public Elections (Registration of Voters) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 was laid in parliament by the EC in March before the House went on recess. Under the law, the CI must be in Parliament for 21 sitting days before it becomes law.
Meanwhile, the report of the subsidiary legislation committee of parliament on the CI which was presented to the House last Thursday has been withdrawn and re-laid today.
It is expected that the motion for the adoption of the report will be moved today.
