The Member of Parliament, (MP) for Chiana-Paga Constituency of the Upper East Region, Lawyer Rudolf Nsowine Amenga-Etego, has called for unity among members of the National Democratic Congress ahead of the 2020 general elections.

According to him, the NDC can only wrestle power from the NPP if they desist from backbiting and engage themselves in aggressive grassroots campaign.

Lawyer Nsowine Amenga-Etego made the call at a separate meetings with the Chiana-Paga Constituency executives as part of activities marking the Christmas and the New Year festivities.

The meeting served as a platform for the MP to share his vision and plans for the party ahead of the 2020 general elections.

Lawyer Nsowine Amenga-Etego seized the opportunity to call on the NDC party faithful in the area to desist from selfishness and see the interest of the party first.

This, he noted, will go a long way to strengthen the party ahead of the 2020 general elections.

He warned members of the party to desist from favoritism and tribalism in addressing issues of the party.

He said his outfit has been able to provide the people in the constituency with potable drinking water, educational facilities among other social amenities.

Lawyer Nsowine Amenga-Etego expressed worry over government’s inability to release the MPs common fund on time to enable him execute his duties as expected.

He described 2019 as the decider of 2020 general elections, hence the need for them to vote for marketable presidential candidate in their upcoming presidential primaries.

He said measures will be put in place at the constituency level to train the party communicators in the area.

The move, according to him, will help the party communicators give accurate information to the people in the area and the country at large.

He pledged his readiness to support the constituency executives particularly the communicators to enable them spread the good message of the NDC to the constituents.

Lawyer Nsowine Amenga-Etego called on both new and old executives of the NDC in the area to work together and take each other’s suggestion into consideration.

The Deputy Upper East Regional Administrator of the NDC, Gilbert Atanga, called on the regional executives of the NDC to put their shoulders to the wheel in order for them to win all the 15 parliamentary seats in the region.

The Chiana-Paga Constituency Chairman of the NDC, James Kojo Babaviripaga Kupanamo, appealed to the NDC party faithful in the area to work through the party structures.

This, according to him, will help the party recapture power in the upcoming 2020 general elections.

He called on the delegates who will vote in the upcoming presidential primaries of the NDC to vote for a winnable candidate.

The Chiana-Paga Constituency Secretary, Anthony Togiyiga, called on the members of the party to develop the spirit of forgiveness and volunteerism in all their endeavors.

The Chiana-Paga constituency is one of the largest constituencies in the Upper East Region with about one hundred and eighteen branches of the NDC. Speaker after Speaker called on polling station agents to be prepared and safeguard ballot boxes in the 2020 elections since elections are won at the polling station.

Food and drinks were made available by Lawyer Nsowine Amenga-Etego, MP for Chiana-Paga Constituency for all the party members who participated in the separate meetings.

Members of the NDC in the area expressed satisfaction about the work of the MP and pledged their outfit’s readiness to give him the needed support.
