Mahama challenges government to give new Special Prosecutor free hand to work

Former President John Mahama has urged government to allow the new Special Prosecutor Kissi Adjabeng to work without interference.

He said government must also ensure that the Office is given all the support to undertake its work.

Mr. Adjabeng was sworn into office earlier this month.

His appointment follows the resignation of former Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu.

Mr. Amidu prior to his resignation complained about funding of the office, in terms of logistics and finance to recruit. Mr. Mahama who was speaking at a media engagement in Tamale recounted complaints of the Former Special Prosecutor, that prevented him from doing his job effectively.

He expressed the hope that the new Special Prosecutor, Kissi Adjabeng will get the needed cooperation.

The Former President maintained that success of Mr. Agyabeng, will be dependent on how he is able to investigate and prosecute corruption cases within the last five years involving current government appointees.

Former President Mahama is in the third of a scheduled “Thank you Tour” to express appreciation to Ghanaians for the support given him and NDC parliamentary candidates in the December 2020 elections.
