President Mahama dissolves statutory boards, commissions and councils

The President, John Dramani Mahama, has dissolved all statutory boards, corporations, commissions, and councils appointed by the previous administration, in line with the Presidential (Transition) Act, 2012 (Act 845).

In a statement released by the presidency, government clarified that this decision impacts only statutory bodies, excluding independent constitutional commissions.

“In due course, the affected boards, commissions, councils, and statutory corporations will be reconstituted according to their respective enabling laws,” the statement signed by Acting Spokesperson to the President, Felix Kwakye Ofosu noted.

It clarified that independent constitutional commissions are excluded from the directive.

It also assured that the affected boards, commissions, councils, and corporations would be reconstituted in accordance with their respective enabling laws.

The statement further directed the management of these bodies to seek clearance from the Chief of Staff before making any significant decisions until further notice.

The President expressed gratitude to all outgoing members for their dedicated service and extended his well wishes for their future endeavours.
