President John Dramani Mahama has held high-level bilateral talks with Jamaican leaders as part of his four-day state visit to Jamaica, aimed at strengthening trade, investment, cultural exchange and South-South cooperation.
The President was earlier received at King’s House in Kingston by the Governor-General of Jamaica, His Excellency the Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen, and Her Excellency the Most Honourable Lady Allen.
The visit began with a ceremonial welcome, including the inspection of a Guard of Honour, followed by a courtesy call at the Governor-General’s official residence.
President Mahama later proceeded to the Office of the Prime Minister, where he was welcomed by Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Michael Holness. After signing the official guest book, the two leaders held a private meeting to discuss issues of mutual interest and explore new opportunities for bilateral cooperation.
The meeting was followed by formal bilateral talks between the Ghanaian and Jamaican delegations. Discussions centred on expanding trade and investment, strengthening cultural and educational exchanges, and enhancing collaboration on regional and international issues of shared interest.
The day’s engagements concluded with a joint media briefing, where President Mahama and Prime Minister Holness reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the historic ties between Ghana and Jamaica and advancing cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.
