Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has bemoaned the decision by the Minority caucus to boycott parliamentary proceedings in solidarity with some three members who are standing various trials.

He said though the Majority, if fully represented in the House can allow decisions to be taken even in the absence of the Minority MPs, but he (Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu) will go ahead and engage the Minority Leader, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, before deciding the next line of action

“Any day James Gyakye Quayson goes to court, the Minority would not attend upon the House of Parliament”, this is the threat issued by Minority Leader on July 4, 2023, when he was called upon to welcome the newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson.

MINORITY LEADER, CASSIEL ATO FORSON

The Minority in Parliament through its leader, Dr. Cassie Ato Forson issued the notice of their intention to boycott parliamentary business on days when the newly elected Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson will appear in court.

According to the Minority Leader, all NDC MPs will follow their colleague to the court in a show of solidarity, hence, their stance to abstain from Parliament.

Meanwhile, the People’s National Convention (PNC) says the Minority causes financial loss to the state anytime they boycott Parliamentary Sitting in solidarity with their colleagues who are standing trial.

The Minority yesterday, July 6, 2023, boycotted sitting in order to accompany and solidarize with their leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, and Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson.

This was in furtherance of a warning earlier issued by Dr. Forson that all the 137 NDC MPs would boycott Parliament anytime any of their members is to appear in Court.
