The Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu has given the Minority Spokesperson on Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, a seven-day ultimatum to retract and apologise for some comments he allegedly made in relation to a judgement debt payment.
Mr Amidu in a letter to Mr Forson demanded an unqualified apology and retraction of the said comments which he described as defamatory.
According to Mr Amidu, he has never been paid any money by government in his official capacity or because of his position as Special Prosecutor as Mr Forson claimed.
Mr. Amidu said Mr. Forson’s comments are malicious and deliberate.
He said they are meant to sway ordinary and right-thinking members of society to think that government had unlawfully colluded with him as Special Prosecutor to dubiously pay him some money and other benefits resulting from Court orders.
Mr Amidu made references to press conferences addressed by Mr. Forson outside the floor and chamber of Parliament where he said the Special Prosecutor had been paid 280 million Ghana Cedis as judgment debt since he took office in 2017.
