Minister for Defense, Dominic Nitiwul says President Akufo-Addo travels on a commercial flight because the current Presidential Jet does not have enough space and cannot travel long distances without making stopovers for refueling.
The Minister was responding to an urgent question from MP for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who wanted to find out whether the Presidential Jet, Falcon – 900 is in good condition and considered airworthy.
The MP filed the question in the wake of revelations that it costs the State about fifteen thousand pounds per hour to travel on a commercial flight.
Mr. Nitiwul said, the safety of the President and his entourage, rather than, the cost is a major consideration.
