By Bubu Klinogo

The Minister for National Security, Albert Kan Dapaah says Presidential travels are paid out of the operational costs of the Ministry of National Security and therefore cannot be disclosed.

The Minister stated this in response to a question by Member of Parliament (MP) for North Tongu and Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa who wanted to know how much it cost to fund the President’s recent travels to Belgium, France and South Africa.

The Minister however declined to disclose the details on the basis of confidentiality and top State secrecy.

Mr. Okudzeto who was not happy with the response cited countries like the US where the cost of Presidential travels are made public.

The Minister gave a similar response to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Dorma East, Paul Apreku Twum Barima who wanted to know how much it cost former President Mahama to travel by commercial flights.

He was however content with the Minister’s response.
