By Francis Edzorna Mensah

Parliament has suspended proceedings because they can’t agree on the modalities for voting.

On March 23, 2023, the House concluded the debates on the nominees, but Speaker Alban A. K. Bagbin deferred the question on them to Friday, March 24, 2023.

The House adopted the Thirteenth Report of the Appointments Committee on H.E. the President’s Nominations for Appointment as Ministers, Ministers of State, and Deputy Ministers.

The motion was moved on Thursday, March 23, 2023, by the Chairman of the Committee and First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei-Owusu; and seconded by the Member for Effutu and Deputy Minority Leader, Mr. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, but the question was put on hold.

The Ministerial Nominees are Mr. Kobina Tahir Hammond, Minister-designate for Trade and Industry; Mr. Bryan Acheampong, Minister-designate for Food and Agriculture; and Mr. Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Minister-designate for Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.

The rest are Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Minister of State-designate at the Ministry of Finance; Mr. Osei Bonsu Amoah, Minister of State-designate at the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development and Dr. Stephen Amoah, Deputy Minister-Designate for Trade and Industry.
