Vetting of newly nominated Ministers slated for March 5 to 12

All is set for Parliament’s Appointments Committee to vet the President’s newly nominated Ministers and deputy ministers of State beginning Tuesday, March 5, to Tuesday, March 12, 2024.

The schedule for the vetting is as follows:

Tuesday, March 5, 2024

Mr Andrew Egyapa Mercer, a former deputy minister for energy who has been elevated and is currently minister-designate for the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture will set the ball rolling at 9 a.m.

At 10 a.m., Madam Lydia Seyram Alhassan, Minister-designate for the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources while Mr Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, a former deputy minister at the same ministry, who has been elevated to become the substantive minister (Minister-designate) for the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development takes his bit at 11 a.m..

Madam Ophelia Mensah Hayford, Minister-designate for the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation takes the hot seat at 12 p.m.

At 2 p.m., Darkoa Newman, Minister-designate for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection will take her turn to end the day.

On Thursday, March 7, 2024, at exactly 9 a.m., the Minister-designate for the Ministry of Health, Dr Bernard Okoe Boye, begins the day while a former member of parliament for Tema West now Minister-designate for the Greater Accra Region, Mr Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, takes the hot seat at 10 a.m. on the same day.

At 11 a.m., Madam Fatimatu Abubakar, Minister-designate for the Ministry of Information, will be hosted by members of the appointment committee with the Minister-designate for the Oti Region, Mr. Daniel Machator, bringing down the curtain of the day at 2 p.m. 

Friday, March 9, 2024

On Friday, March 9, 2024, will be the turn of the deputy ministers designated. At approximately 9 a.m., Dr Benjamin Sekyere Yeboah, Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection will be ushered in to start the day.

At 10 a.m. on the same day, Mr Sylvester Tetteh, MP for Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro and Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Information will have his day with the committee.

At 11 a.m., Mr Charles Acheampong, Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Communication and Digitalisation will take the baton from his colleague, Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro Lawmaker, while at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m., Madam Adelaide Ntim and Alexander Akwasi Acquah, Deputy Ministers-designate for the Health Ministry, will take their turn, respectively.

Monday, March 11, 2024

Mr Vincent Ekow Assafuah, Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation and Rural Development will open the floor at 9 a.m., followed by John Kobina Sanie, Deputy Minister-designate for the Energy Ministry, at 10 a.m.

Mr Collins Adomako Mensah, Deputy Minister-designate at the Energy Ministry, and Dr Prince Hamidu Armah, Deputy Minister-designate for the Works and Housing Ministry will also take their turn at 11 a.m. and 12 noon respectively.

Tuesday, March 12, 2024

9 a.m.: Kingsley Nyarko, Deputy Minister-designate for the Education Ministry
10 a.m.: Festus Awuah Kwofie, Deputy Minister-designate for the Employment and Labour Ministry
11 a.m.: Akwasi Konadu, Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and 12 p.m.: Musah Abdul Aziz Ayaba, Deputy Minister-designate for the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture and Development, will pull down the curtains for the day.
