Minority Leader in Parliament Haruna Iddrisu has kicked against any attempt by the Electoral Commission to compile a new voters register.
He says he knows of plans by the EC to introduce a constitutional instrument to compile a new register that will require the national ID card as the sole requirement for a new voters card.
He said with the challenges many face in getting the national ID card, coupled with the financial implication of undertaking a new voter registration, such an idea must be shelved.
He spoke to the media in Parliament.
