Minority to trigger recall of Parliament to investigate alleged missing money from Consolidated fund

Ranking Member on Parliament’s Health Committee, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh

The Minority in Parliament says the Auditor General should immediately constitute a team including Price Waterhouse Coopers, PWC, to audit expenditure of the 600 million cedis for the “Agenda 111” projects.

The group has issues with the supposed transfer of the money which involved the Ministry of Finance, Controller and Accountant General’s Department, the Bank of Ghana, the Ministry of Health and the Office of the Chief of Staff.

This is contained in a statement signed by MP for Juaboso & Ranking Member on the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.

The Minority says it is shocked at a statement from the Ministry of Finance in response to its recent call for accountability for the 600 million cedis utilized in 2020 for the management of AGENDA 111 projects.

According to the Minority, the Ministry’s statement did not address concerns it had raised regarding allocations, implementation and the procurement methods leading to the award of the contracts.

The Minority believes contradictions in government’s communication show, there is something wrong with the 600 million cedis expenditure.

It wonders why government did not capture it in the 2021 budget and has served notice that, if the Auditor General fails to Act within 2 weeks, they will have no option than to trigger a recall of Parliament to investigate the Missing 600 million from the consolidated fund.
