There have been mixed reaction by panelists on GBC’s Current Affairs programme, “Talking Point”, over Teacher’s Licensure Examinations.
The panelists who were divided about the delay in implementing the examinations also raised concerns about the fact that it is not backed by any LI.
The Examination which has been slated for the September 10 applies to all teachers who hold Diploma in Basic Education, Bachelor of Education or a Post Graduate Diploma in Education who want to be employed by the Ghana Education Service.
The Deputy General Secretary in charge of Education and Professional Development of GNAT, Gifty Apanbil says the Association is not happy with inputs as to what constitutes the Licensure Examinations.
The Founding Director of the Institute of Education Studies, Dr. Prince Armah questioned the delay in implementing the Licensure Examinations saying the teacher Unions are dragging the issue unnecessarily.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum says he is not surprised about agitations from the panelists adding that the move is in the interest of teachers who would be taking part in the examinations.
