The National Democratic Congress, (NDC), has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to sack his Education Minister, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempreh for insulting  its flagbearer John Dramani Mahama.

The Education Minister, while responding to various questions on an Accra Radio, Asempa FM on the experiences of parents and their wards at the GES Solution Center in Accra, attributed the crisis to an alleged plot by political opponents.

The NDC in a Statement signed by the National Communication Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, said, the party is aware of some unpalatable comments made by the Education Minister, to the effect that, Mr. Mahama was responsible for busing individuals to the Independence Square just to create a scene and undermine the ongoing Computerized School Selection Program System, (CSSPS), process at the Independence Square in Accra.

Mr. Gyamfi however, put the ongoing problem with the CSSPS process at the door steps of the sector Minister stressing the fact that, the current crises is the creation of the Sector Minister and his Education Ministry.

The statement said the NDC demands an unqualified apology and retraction for what the party described as irresponsible comments made by Dr. Opoku Prempeh within 24 hours or be dismissed from office without delay to save this country from any further ‘embarrassment’.

The party also demands a full-scale inquiry into the 2019 SHS placement ‘fiasco’, to ascertain the veracity of the numerous allegations of a ‘dubious software’, hacking and alleged corrupt practices of officials of the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education and measures put in place to forestall any such future occurrence.
