The Hunger Project Ghana has helped five districts in the Eastern Region, namely Yilo Krobo Municipality, Okere, Ayensuano, Upper Manya Krobo, and Fanteakwa districts, develop a Citizen Charter.

The Citizen Charter seeks to ensure that the Assemblies provide high standards in the services they offer and everything that promotes development within the districts and local communities.

During the handover ceremony of the citizen charter to the Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly in Somanya, the Country Director of The Hunger Project Ghana, Samuel Erasmus Afranie, noted that the standard enshrined in the citizen charter document is to ensure a change towards development in the communities, Districts and the country as a whole.

He noted that providing development in the Districts and localities requires an honest, effective, and efficient effort from everyone and therefore urged the Assemblies to implement what is in the charter to engender development in the Communities.

The Project Officer of the Hunger Project Ghana, Solomon Amoakwa, noted that with funding from the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), his office came out with a project dubbed “Strengthening sub-districts institutions for community-led public services”.

The project is aimed at strengthening and empowering substructures in the Assemblies to deliver public services to people in the local communities.

In an interview with the Yilo Krobo Municipal Chief Executive, Eric Tetteh, he noted that the citizen charter has come in handy, and being able to implement what is enshrined in the charter will aid development of the Districts and the country as a whole.

He noted that the Assembly is so committed to what is documented in the citizen charter and will ensure its full implementation.

The Hunger Project Ghana is operating in seven regions out of the 16 regions in the country, namely Greater Accra, Ashanti, Central, Eastern, Bono, Ahafo, and Bono East regions.
