The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the party will advise itself if the Electoral Commission (EC) defies all the controversies and goes ahead with the compilation of the new Voters’ Register.

Director of IT of the NDC, Kwame Griffiths says the EC must have the interest of the state at heart, considering the issues coming up.

Speaking on GBC’s Current Affairs programme, FOCUS which discussed the compilation of the new Voters Register, Mr. Griffiths said the EC must listen to all the concerns being raised by the opposing political parties and exhibit better posturing as an independent  Commission.

Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Member of Parliament (MP) for Adentan, Yaw Buabang Asamoah, said the NPP won the 2016 elections because the party was vigilant, and not because of a credible register, hence the need for a new register.

Meanwhile, Co-Chair for CODEO Shiekh Aremeyaw Shaibu urged all political parties who have taken intransigence positions to soften their stance to profess proper advise to assist the EC to move forward.

He said the toxic public discourse by the various political parties is not healthy.

Shiekh Aremeyaw said Ghanaians are getting fed up with the posturing of the two major political parties.
