Forty-seven aspirants have successfully filed their nominations to contest the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2026 National Officers Elections, paving the way for the next stage of the electoral process.

The figure is down from the 50 individuals who initially purchased nomination forms to contest the various national positions.
Three prospective candidates did not complete the filing process.
Former Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, formally withdrew his candidacy for the National Chairperson position.
Evans Kodom also withdrew from the race for National Communications Director, leaving Dennis Miracles Aboagye as the sole aspirant for the position, subject to successfully completing the vetting process and satisfying all applicable requirements.
Perpetual Ekua Lomokie Akwada, who purchased a nomination form to contest the National Women Organiser position, failed to submit her completed forms before the deadline and will therefore not proceed to the vetting stage.
Vetting begins Monday
According to the NOEC, vetting of the 47 aspirants will begin on Monday, August 31, and run through Thursday, September 3.
Aspirants for the positions of National Chairperson, General Secretary and National Treasurer will be vetted on Monday.
The exercise will continue on Tuesday with the vetting of candidates for National Vice Chairperson.
Aspirants for National Organiser and National Youth Organiser will be vetted on Wednesday.
The final day, Thursday, September 3, will be dedicated to aspirants for National Communications Director, National Nasara Organiser and National Women Organiser.
The NOEC said individual aspirants would be contacted with details of their assigned vetting times, venues and other requirements.
The vetting process is expected to determine which of the aspirants meet the party’s eligibility requirements to proceed to the subsequent stages of the 2026 National Officers Elections.
