The election forms part of the NPP’s internal reorganisation ahead of the 2028 general election. Delegates are also considering proposed amendments to the party’s constitution as part of the National Delegates Congress.
The congress began with consideration of the proposed constitutional amendments, with voting for national officers scheduled to follow. The party had earlier directed delegates to undergo verification and present an approved identification document, including a Ghana Card, Voter ID card or NPP party card.
The Ashanti Region has the largest delegation with 1,122 delegates, followed by Greater Accra with 773 and the Eastern Region with 732. Savannah has the smallest delegation, with 184 delegates.
Voting and counting are expected to determine the party’s new national leadership as it completes the final stage of its internal reorganisation.
