NPP National Congress: No Vaccination, No Entry to Baba Yara Stadium

By Nathaniel Nartey

Leadership of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, has directed that all delegates attending the National Delegates Conference over the weekend must be vaccinated.

As a result, all delegates who refuse to comply with the directive will be denied entry into the Baba Yara Sports Stadium where the delegates will converge.

Speaking to GBC News ahead of the Conference, the Greater Accra Regional Organizer of the NPP, Prince Obeng said President Akufo-Addo issued the No–Vaccination-No-Entry Policy for the Conference to ensure Covid-19 does not spread at the event.

He told Reporter Nathaniel Nartey that adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure a peaceful Conference.

“Because of the covid-19 safety protocols, the President has directed that anyone who comes for the conference should be vaccinated, so if you don’t show your vaccination card, you cannot join the conference and that itself deals with the safety challenges we have”.

On the arrangements for security, Mr Obeng said “police officers and other security personnel have been deployed to places where they think can be hotspots so I can guarantee that all security measures have been put in place”.

Mr Obeng was hopeful that the party will consider separating the Research and Elections Unit, as part of issues to be discussed at the Conference.

This he said will help to improve the operations of the party.

“Currently our Research and Elections is one Unit, I believe that if we can decouple the two to have Research standing on its own so that they work timely and able to feed not just the Elections Unit but also feed the Communications, feed Organization, feed the Secretariat and other Units of the parts and that is critical, that is why I personally made this proposal”
