The Director of Strategy, Research and Communication at the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), Samuel Darko, says former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s Interpol Red Notice is still active, even though it has been temporarily removed from public view.

Speaking on GTV’s Current Agenda show on Saturday, November 22, 2025, Mr. Darko explained that the notice “has not been deleted or taken off Interpol’s system,” but has only been hidden from public visibility while Interpol reviews a challenge filed by Mr. Ofori-Atta and his lawyers.

He stressed that the Red Notice remains fully enforceable, emphasising that if Mr. Ofori-Atta decides to travel to the United States or the United Kingdom today, he will be arrested.

According to him, Interpol temporarily removed the notice from public access because the processes involved are sensitive and must be handled carefully while the review is ongoing.

Mr. Darko also dismissed claims that the OSP had mishandled the matter or that the temporary visibility suspension represented a victory for Mr. Ofori-Atta’s legal team. He said similar challenges to Red Notices occurred during the Airbus investigation, where suspects challenged the notices multiple times without affecting the integrity of the OSP’s work.

He further clarified that the OSP’s investigations do not prevent other state agencies from investigating or prosecuting Mr. Ofori-Atta, as all agencies can proceed independently through the Attorney General.

He added that although the OSP signaled readiness to proceed, new evidence, some of which required forensic work and international confirmation, delayed the final submission of the extradition documents.
