Private legal practitioner, Kwame Owusu Danso, has called on former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to return to Ghana to account for his stewardship, saying public service comes with a moral obligation to face the people.

Speaking on GTV’s Current Agenda on Saturday, December 20, 2025, Mr Owusu Danso said the most honourable course for any former public official facing allegations is to submit to due process rather than remain outside the country.

“When you are given the opportunity to serve, the most honourable thing to do is to come back and account to the people, whether or not you believe you committed an offence,” he said.

He questioned Mr Ofori-Atta’s continued absence, noting that the former minister had previously travelled abroad for medical treatment but returned to Ghana while still in office.

Mr Owusu Danso said claims of ill health should not be used to avoid accountability, stressing that public confidence in leadership depends on the willingness of public officials to face scrutiny.
