The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has asked Criminal Court 3 of the High Court in Accra to allow it to withdraw and transfer the ongoing extortion case involving former Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Dr. Mustapha Hamid, and 10 others to a new court.

Prosecutors from the OSP told the court on Thursday, November 13, 2025, that a new charge sheet had been filed on October 17, which has been assigned to Criminal Court 4 (CC4).

They explained that the new case is scheduled to be heard on December 9, 2025.

“To ensure a smooth transition, we respectfully request that this court also set December 9 as the date for us to withdraw from here and continue proceedings at Criminal Court 4,” the prosecution said.

Lawyer for the accused persons, Mr. Joseph Kpemka, told the court that the defence had no objection to the request.

The presiding judge subsequently adjourned the case to December 9 at 10 a.m. for further action.
