More than 500 names are said to be missing from the certified voters’ register with the two major political parties, NDC and NPP disagreeing on the exact number.

The NDC claims 547 names are missing while the NPP puts the number at 541.

This came up at the IPAC meeting Thursday, November 19, where the EC demonstrated how the biometric verification devices will be operated on Election Day.

Deputy Director of elections of the NDC, Daniel Amartey, told GBC’s Nathaniel Nartey that the party was not satisfied with responses from the EC on some concerns raised at the meeting.

These include the EC’s decision to provide a provisional list for the more than 500 missing names aside the 17 million names on the certified register, as well as its response to why names of security personnel working on Election Day are not on the Special Voting list.

Director of Elections and Research of the NPP, Evans Nimako insisted the number of missing names is 541.

He said the NPP will continue to collaborate with the EC to ensure that results are declared within 24 hours after the polls close as indicated by the Commission.

The total number of registered voters on the certified register stands at 17,029,971.
