Parliament has put on hold a service agreement between government and a local company, ‘Fly Zipline’ for the delivery of emergency health and blood products.
Under the agreement, ‘Fly zipline’ will use drones to transport health supplies to facilities across the country in a timely manner.
The Ranking Member on the Finance Committee, Cassiel Ato Forson advocated the agreement be thrown out since under its terms, the Company stands to make huge profit at the expense of the state.
The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu however appealed to the MPs to approve the agreement in the interest of public health.
First Deputy Speaker, Joseph Osei Owusu declined ‘putting the question’ on the approval of the facility as some fundamental requirements were yet to be met.
