Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu, says the Electronic Levy and other taxes announced in the 2022 Budget will burden Ghanaians who are already dealing with numerous taxes and high cost of living.
”The system will not be able to bear the hardship. Literally, the country is hot. Mr Speaker, it is only the Honorable Ken Ofori-Atta who ironically eases burdens, to quote his words that there is no illusion about the sufferings of Ghanaians yet, he is imposing further subsidiaries, imposing a 1.75 momo electronic banking tax”, Mr. Iddrissu stated.
The Majority Leader, Osei Kyei- Mensa-Bonsu, said the 2022 Budget is not for propaganda, but one that is set to give Ghanaians a new beginning after the devastating effects of COVID-19.
”This nation must develop, Covid 19 or no Covid 19 yet recognisably, Covid 19 has affected considerable emancipation on the economy. And the economy is in distress, business has collapsed, jobs have been lost, lives and days have been lost and yet, paradoxically, as we go on, government has put in place not to explain away from our problems but to solve these problems”, according to Majority Leader Osei Kyei- Mensa- Bonsu.
