The meeting of the Privileges Committee on the referral of the Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong has been postponed.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, referred the MP to the committee following a complaint from the MP for Tamale North Alhassan Suhuyini.

This follows some comments Mr. Agyapong made on his Net2 TV where he allegedly sought to incite attacks against Luv Fm reporter, Erastus Asare Donkor, following his reportage on the Ejura disturbances and his subsequent testimony before the investigative committee.

The Privileges Committee was scheduled to meet on Thursday, August 5, to consider the matter.

However, a member of the Committee, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini told GBC’s Bubu Klinogo that Mr. Agyapong was never formally invited.

He said the committee is even yet to meet ever since its constitution to even draw up its plan. According to him, the chairman of the committee, first deputy speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu appears to be taking a unilateral decision by insisting on a Zoom meeting against the wishes of most members of the committee.
