The Chairman of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee, (PIAC), Dr. Steve Manteaw has added his voice to calls for the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy to be targeted at vulnerable groups.

Speaking to Radio Ghana at the annual Review Meeting of PIAC with Editors and Senior Journalists at Senchi in the Eastern Region, Dr. Manteaw said the wholesale enjoyment of the Free SHS is a drain on the petroleum economy.

There have been calls for government to review the current disposition of the Free SHS to allow for well-endowed parents to foot the bills of their wards to enable monies used in sponsoring them to be channelled to other sectors of the economy.

Dr. Manteaw said such calls are in the right direction.

Dr. Manteaw also criticised political interference in the work of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, (GNPC), saying they must be given the free hand to operate.

Dr. Manteaw said it is regrettable that since the oil find, Ghana has no significant project to show for the use of its revenue.
