PNC Chairman, Bernard Mornah, donates towards fight against COVID-19 in UWR

In support of measures to curb the spread of COVID-19 in Ghana, the National Chairman of People’s National Convention, Bernard Monarh has donated 75 Veronica buckets, 115 hand sanitisers, and six cartons of carbolic soap to the Nadowli-Kaleo constituency in the Upper West Region.

Presenting the items valued at ¢8,000.00 on behalf of Mr. Mornah in Wa, the Nadowli-Kaleo Secretary of the People’s National Convention, Vincent Domaninge, said the fight against coronavirus is not a one-man battle, hence the need for everyone to come on board to support the fight.

“The gesture is in line with the President’s call for public spirited individuals and organizations to help fight the corona virus.”

 Some media houses in the Upper West Region were also given some of the items.

“If the media houses which are seriously educating the people, are not first protected, there would not be an opportunity for people to hear the education and protect themselves from the virus, hence the need to protect the front liners,” Mr. Domaninge stated.

The Nadowli-Kaleo Constituency Secretary of the PNC used the opportunity to call on the government to set up a diagnostic centre in the Upper West Region.

Mr. Domaninge however expressed worry over the current 37 lives claimed by the Cerebro Spinal Meningitis (CSM) in the Upper West Region. He indicated that the CSM has killed more people than the Coronavirus in the Ghana. He entreated media houses, health workers and other bodies to as a matter of urgency to do more education on the fight against the deadly CSM as being done in relation to the corona virus.

Mr. Domaninge advised all Ghanaians to observe the precautionary measures such as avoiding touching their faces, wearing face masks, washing of hands frequently under running water, using alcohol-based sanitizers, observing social distancing as well as staying home and only going out if necessary.
