Six thousand Police personnel will be deployed to maintain law and order during the swearing in of President-elect Akufo-Addo, Vice President-Elect Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the Speakers and Parliamentarians of the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic on January 7.
The deployment will be augmented by technology to ensure maximum security during the ceremony. A statement from the Police Public Affairs Directorate advised the public to stay off the immediate vicinity of the State House Complex, the Accra International Conference Centre, Accra Sports Stadium and the Black Star Square on January 6 and 7.
It said the areas will be secured and patrolled by security personnel, while only persons with accreditation would be allowed entry on the said dates.
The statement adds that there would be overt and covert operations in the State House Complex vicinity, where mask wearing and other COVID-19 protocols would be strictly enforced.
