Discussions on inciteful political pronouncements have dominated Ghana’s airwaves lately after a former Deputy National Security Minister, Bryan Acheampong, was quoted to have made disparaging comments that set the tone for the engagements.

Contributing to the topic, ‘’Hate Speech by Political Actors’’, on Joy News, a former UN Governance Advisor, Dr. Agyeman-Duah, pointed out that Hate Speech in Ghana’s politics is nothing new.

‘’If you follow Politics in Ghana, these antics began since Ghana’s 1992 election,” according to Professor Duah.

But was quick to add that the pronouncements by the Political Actors must be resisted because currently Ghana is at a critical time so far as its economic situation is concerned. At best, the political actors should proffer economic solutions to bring relief to the people.

‘’At best, economic interests should be priority, if they have nothing to share, they should give us peace,’’ Professor Agyeman-Duah asserts.

He believes it is time to take a critical look at Ghana’s Political Systems in order to correct the anomalies.

‘’What we need are policies that would take us out of this… a more effective Constitution,’’ according to Professor Agyeman-Duah.
