The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) says the act of gift-giving is lost on Ghanaians due to what the party describes as untold economic hardship in the country.

In a Christmas message, the party’s National Chairman, Nii Allotey Brew-Hammond, said the desire of a number of citizens to enjoy the season will not be fulfilled because of politics of exclusion and vindictiveness.

The PPP noted that reforms in the financial sector have left thousands of the affected staff unemployed.

It added that the panic withdrawal of deposits and investments caused the collapse of indigenous financial institutions.

The PPP urged all political parties to understand that jobs and prosperity are the best guarantors of peace.

The party, therefore, called for an end to victimization of political opponents and wished Ghanaians a Merry Christmas and a peaceful, prosperous 2020.
