President Nana Akufo-Addo has entreated the leadership of political parties to join forces with the government in the fight against coronavirus.
The parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), New Patriotic Party (NPP), Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Convention People’s Party (CPP), People’s National Convention (PNC) and National Democratic Party (NDP), expressed optimism that the decision taken by the government will help stem the spread of the virus and bring life to normalcy.
The political parties pledged to support government in its fight against the pandemic.
President Akufo-Addo said the virus has no political colour, hence seeking the views of the parties in the fight.
National Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said the Pandemic has no political colours and called for an all hands on deck approach in tackling it.
National Chairman of the NPP, Freddy Blay, said the party is in full support of measures put in place.
The 2016 running mate of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Brigitte Dzogbenuku lauded the interventions put in place to stop the spread.
The 2016 presidential candidate of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Ivor Greenstreet called for support from the parties.
The 2016 Presidential candidate of the PNC, Dr Edward Mahama, advised the media not to instill fear in the populace as confirmed cases worldwide reaches more than one million.
