President Akufo-Addo tours North East Region, promises more appointments

President Akufo-Addo has assured the people of North East Region that upon completion of the composition of his government, there will be more appointments from the region.

President Akufo-Addo gave the assurance on his on-going tour of the North East Region.

He promised the expansion of the road network and establishment of a tertiary institution in the region, in appreciation for endorsing his candidature in the 2020 general elections.

The President touring the North East Region reminded residents to participate in the national census.

 

 

The President’s team first stopped was at the palace of the Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga. The Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, who spoke through his spokesperson Mba Taaranah, applauded the President and his government for his pro-poor policies such as Free SHS, Planting of Food and Jobs, NABCO, expansion of school feeding programme among others.

He appealed to the president to provide the region with a befitting traditional council block, a regional sports stadium and provision of educational and health facilities in the deprived districts including Yunyoo and Chereponi.

On his part, President Akufo-Addo thanked the people of the region for their continuous support, assuring that more will be done in his second term to raise the living conditions of the people across the country.

The team next stopped at the ongoing construction of the North East Regional offices of the Coordinating Council block. After touring the site, President Akufo-Addo gave his approval and charged the contractor to speed up work, and hand it over on schedule.

The team later visited Walewale, capital of the West Mamprusi Municipality where the president inspected ongoing construction of the watermelon factory and Tamanaa rice processing factory. At the Tamanaa rice processing factory, the entourage was told that it began operations in 2015 and works with about 4,000 out-growers, 40 percent of whom are women and located in four Assemblies including west Mamprusi, Savelugu, East Mamprusi and Mamprugu Moaduri districts.

The president’s team includes the minister for the interior, Mr. Ambrose Dery, minister for Trade and Industry Mr. Allan Kyeremanteng, Minister for Defence, Mr. Dominic Nitiwul among others.
