The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Railway Development Authority, Richard Diedong Dombo, has presented seventeen motorbikes and twenty bicycles to the New Patriotic Party in the Jirapa Constituency.

The motorbikes are expected to complement the party’s campaign ahead of the December 7 polls.

Making the presentation the CEO, Mr Dombo said winning the Jirapa constituency is important for the government to ensure to honour the Simon Diedong Dombo who played a key role in the formation of Northern People’s Party and Dankwa-Dombo-Busia.

Simon Diedong Dombo was the Member of Parliament for Jirapa Constituency and Parliamentary Leader during the first republic of Ghana.

He maintained the seat until his retirement from politics.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Railway Development Authority, Richard Diedong Dombo said the party’s Dankwa-Dombo-Busia Tradition with Dankwa in Kyebe, Busia in Wenchi are all safe seat for NPP except the Dombo.

The CEO said there is the need to work assiduously to recapture the seat in the Jirapa constituency to honour the Simon Diedong Dombo.

“Within the honour of the New Patriotic Party which is a succession group of the United Party, we have a tradition, Dankwa-Dombo-Busia but we have Dankwa in Kyebe, Busia in Wenchi where the seats are safe for the party except the Dombo in Jirapa constituency. It is our challenge as a sitting government at the moment to bring victory to Jirapa to add Dombo to the folk. This is the beginning of the victory and it is my humble gesture to offer these 17 motorbikes and twenty bicycles to support the party,” he stated.

The Parliamentary Candidate for the party, Paul Deriguba, vowed to retrieve the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in December.

“Our brother, Party Chairman and all party members, I had laid my life for the party. It is not for money, it is not for post. I was an MP before and civil servant where I rose to the higher post as Agriculture Director. So I’m here to deliver and I think this is the right time. I will assure all of you that the motors will be given to the front liners, those who are in the battlefront. If you give a riffle to the General in the office you have not done anything so it will be given to the right people. The enemy is already limping, we only need to push it down. The President has done a lot and I had also done a lot,” the Parliamentary Candidate Paul Deriguba said.

Five of the seventeen motorbikes, were given to the Regional Chairman of the party to distribute to other constituencies that are in dire need of transportation.

The Regional Chairman, S B Kangbere, described the gesture as unexpected and hoped that it will support the party to achieve greater height.

He said it’s unfortunate for the people of the region to be on the sideline of party politics.

Mr Kangbere noted that some people have been demoralised since the departure of the S.D Dombo. He urged the people to support the party during the polls to restore the Dombo tradition in the constituency.
