Smooth process at Greater Accra NPP Regional Elections

The New Patriotic Party, NPP, Regional Elections for Greater Accra Region at the LA Trade Fair Center so far been smooth.

The initial plan to commence the elections in the morning was pushed to noon because organisers were not prepared with some materials relevant to the election process.

However, this impediment did not stop electorates from enjoying the day as some of the voters were seen jubilating and singing victory songs to their representatives at the regional level, others were rushing to the polling centers to cast their vote.

Speaking to a Ranking Member of the Madina Constituency, Honourable Rashid Osei was hopeful of a peaceful election because it will happen among friends and family.

“It’s going to be peaceful election. It’s a regional election and it’s an internal election. So we the delegates are here to vote and against Candidates who served in the last four years. Most importantly, this is a Constitutional requirement of the party”

Some of the electorates shared their expectations of the day.

“For today’s elections, I think it’s going to be based on individual merit. Who did good will win. That is what I can say”

“There is peace here. There is no violence. No violence ongoing. The police are really tight and executing their duties well to ensure security. We are praying for the best candidate to win”.

“We are just waiting for the end results to see who should win the elections. We are all one party and we are trying to bring up one strategic plan that will help the party and not for individual interest”

We just need victory and peaceful election. There shouldn’t be any biased. There should be free and fair election and breakthrough. That’s all we expect so we have peaceful mother Ghana”

Security was extremely tight at all the voting centres. Police officers were all over the place ensuring peace and order.
