The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin today took some Members of Parliament (MPs) of the Majority Caucus to the cleaners for their penchant for overturning his rulings, and mudslinging at the least opportunity.

The Rt. Hon. Speaker has, therefore, issued a stern warning to those members especially the Majority Leader, and MP for Suame Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu who is fond of making public pronouncements that counter decisions he (Bagbin) makes on the floor of Parliament.

This follows accusations by the Majority Leader that the Speaker is impatient after revelations that Parliament is broke.

The Speaker on the floor of the House on Thursday, May 26, 2022, lamented the dire financial constraints the legislation arm of government has been plunged into and cautioned the Finance Minister, Mr. Ken Ofori-Atta, against treating Parliament like a Ministry or a District Assembly.

This disclosure by the Speaker did not go down with the ruling New Patriotic Party MPs and has drawn sharp reactions from the frontbench with the Majority Leader, Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, and Majority Chief Whip, Mr. Frank Annor-Dompreh saying a little restraint from the Speaker would have been better.

At a media briefing on Friday, May 27, 2022, the Nsawam Adoagyiri MP, revealed that the outstanding allocation to the Parliament had been released.
