The ongoing special Voting has been characterized by missing names from the special voters’ register.

Many have blamed the security hierarchy for failing to provide accurate details of personnel which has resulted in the missing names while others have blamed EC officials at the voting centers for the missing names.

This means all those whose names are missing from the special voters’ register have their names on the main register.

Our reporter Nathaniel Nartey visited voting centers in three constituencies in the Greater Accra region and reports that more than 3,500 individuals are in queues under the sun, waiting for their turn to vote.

The constituencies visited are Klottey Korley, La Dadekotopon and Ayawaso East constituencies. The NPP Parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korley Prince Debrah confirmed to Radio Ghana that some security personnel who had come to the Osu Police station to vote could not find their names and had to leave the center disappointed.

More than 3,500 personnel from the security agencies had lined up at 6 voting centers at the Trade Fair center in the La Dadekotopon constituency, waiting for their turn to vote.

The huge number is because the constituency is home to the various headquarters of the majority of the security agencies. Some of the security agents who spoke to Radio Ghana accused the EC officials of not doing their jobs well while others voted with no issue.

The Presiding Officer of the center Hackman Kumi had this to say about why some names are missing from the Special register.

The Nima Police Station, which is the center for Ayawaso East was almost empty with little activity when Radio Ghana arrived. All centers visited had the covid-19 protocols in place with the exception of La Dadekotopon, where personnel were in long queues under the sun, standing close to each other, a clear disregard to the social distancing protocol.
