The New Patriotic Party (NPP) convened its National Delegates Conference on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. The gathering marked a significant step in the party’s preparations as it seeks to reclaim power from the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2028.

Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso and former Deputy Finance Minister, Stephen Amoah, shared his views on the critical role the conference plays in shaping the party’s future. He highlighted the event as a major opportunity to foster peace and cohesion among members.
“There should be peace here. There should be unity here. We should be able to move and approve motions that will enable us to win 2028,” he said, emphasizing the shared goals of party members to build the nation and secure electoral success.
He further affirmed the NPP’s confidence in its ability to outperform the ruling NDC in future elections. “NPP is far better than NDC. It doesn’t matter what anybody wants to say. But if you don’t have power, you can’t build,” he stated.
He underlined the importance of peace and coherence within the party despite occasional disagreements, saying these differences should not be mistaken for disunity.
The former deputy minister also stressed teamwork and coexistence as vital elements for the NPP’s prospects in 2028.
“We want peace here. We want tranquility. We want coherence. We want to show that NPP is still a formidable party, although we are in opposition. And that we are united,” Mr. Amoah affirmed.
He indicated that all motions approved at the conference must aim to increase the probability of NPP’s victory in 2028. “Every single motion here should be geared towards the higher probability that NPP will win 2028. That’s all that we want,” he noted, setting a clear directive for the party’s strategic agenda as it looks ahead to reclaiming governance in the next general elections.
