The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of the election petition filed by the 2020 flagbearer of the NDC John Dramani Mahama to Tuesday, January 19, 2021.

The Supreme Court also granted Mr. Mahama leave to amend his Election Petition. Counsel for President Akufo-Addo, Akoto Ampaw and that of the Electoral Commission, Justine Amenuvor opposed the amendment of the motion.

The Court however held that the amendment will not in any way affect the Election Petition and accordingly granted it.

The apex court ordered the Petitioner to file the amendment by close of day today and the Respondents to do so tomorrow.

Present at the Court were Mr. Mahama, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, and some NDC Party executives.

Campaign Manager for the NPP, Peter Mac Manu represented President Akufo-Addo. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Ghana has granted a request by former President John Dramani Mahama that the election petition should be carried live on television.

Earlier there was heavy security presence at the Supreme court.
