Tema Metro records 298 challenge cases in new voter registration

Tema Metro has recorded more than 298 challenge cases in the on-going voter registration as of August 3.

Officer in Charge of the Electoral Commission in the area, Manasseh Ofosu-hene Asante who disclosed this to Rebecca Ekpe said the number of challenges are likely to go up before the exercise finally ends.

Explaining the reasons for the many challenge cases, Mr. Asante said 90 percent of the cases have to do with people being contested for not residing in that specific electoral area.

He also spoke of an interesting case where a father challenged his son for acquiring a voter’s card, although he had not turned 18.

On what happens after the last phase of the registration on Thursday, Mr.Asante said Tema is likely to conduct a mop-up at the District offices.
