Two Minority Members of Parliament, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor of South Dayi, and Dr Clement Apaak of Builsa South, have together with one other person Frederick Nii Commey sued the Attorney-General at the Supreme Court over the approval of payment of salaries for Presidential spouses.

They are seeking a declaration that the Professor Yaa Ntiamoa-Baidu Committee which made the recommendation for those payments did not have the jurisdiction, mandate, or authority to do so.

They also want the Supreme Court to declare the recommendations null, void, and of no effect.

In all, the plaintiffs are seeking eight reliefs from the Apex Court.

According to them, spouses of the President and the Vice President are not Article 71 officeholders for which they should receive wages and emoluments.

They, therefore, want an order restraining the President or any other Arm, Ministry, Department or Agency of Government, from implementing any recommendations of the Prof Ntiamoah-Baidu Committee which pertains to the 1st Lady and the wife of the Vice President.
