The Parliamentary race between the current Member of Parliament, who also doubles as the Minister for Communications and Digitalization, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, and Robert Roni Nicol for the Ablekuma West Seat on the ticket of the NPP is seen by many political analysts as an interesting one to watch.

The area has also become an interesting constituency for the last year because some of the delegates were seen preaching and campaigning for change, while others have allegedly accused the MP of doing very little to support them.

The MP, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, who has been campaigning all day and night under the hashtag (#) “It’s possible together”, to be elected as the 2024 parliamentary candidate for the same area, may face a strong opposition tomorrow at Libert Park with about one thousand one hundred twenty-two (1,122) delegates drawn from one hundred and fourteen (114) Polling stations coming to vote.

Owusu-Ekuful holds a certificate in Government Integrity from the International Law Institute, Washington DC; a Project Management and Planning Certificate from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration; and a Masters in Conflict Peace and Security from the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre. She is a lawyer, women’s rights activist, technology advocate, and a product of the University of Ghana and the Ghana School of Law.

Roni Nicol, at the time of filing out his nominations, claimed to have understood that collaboration is key to success.

On his political journey, Robert Roni Nicol was a member of the Ablekuma West (formerly Ablekuma South) campaign team in 2008, where he played a very active role, resulting in massive votes for the party. In 2012, he was also a member of the Ablekuma West campaign team, during which he worked tirelessly for the party and during the general elections.

In 2016, he remained a member of the Ablekuma West campaign team, where he, together with other committed party members, worked assiduously to ensure the party won power during that year’s general election.

Mr Nicol was Vice Chairman of the Regional Finance Committee and was an aspiring Parliamentary Candidate in the 2016 NPP primaries for Ablekuma West.
