Volta region to have COVID-19 Testing Center soon- Minister

The Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa has disclosed that the Volta region will soon have a COVID-19 Testing Center.

This, according to him, will enhance and speed up efforts and results of contact-tracing currently ongoing in the region.

The minister made the disclosure when members of the Volta Parliamentary Caucus called on him to get an insight into how the COVID-19 fight will be waged in the region.

The courtesy call was to afford members of the Volta parliamentary caucus to gain firsthand information on measures being put in place in the region to curtail any spread and management of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The call is also to offer suggestions on how to further enhance the work of the Volta Regional Public Health Emergency Management Committee on combating the spread and management of the pandemic.

According to the Volta Regional Minister Dr. Archibald Letsa, issues that came up for discussion for which agreement was reached included, enhanced collaboration between members of parliament and their respective municipal and district assemblies, possible expansion of market spaces in the region to ensure the adherence to the social distancing protocol as well as some pertinent issues at the Aflao Border.

The Volta region has recorded nine confirmed cases of COVID-19 and to ensure that this does not spread, the Volta Regional Public Health Emergency Management Committee in collaboration with other stakeholders has put in place some measures, including a reduction of the number of passengers commercial vehicles, especially within the Ho municipality can carry.

The Regional Minister urged residents of the region to adhere to the measures in the interest of all.

A member of the Volta Parliamentary caucus, Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor commended the Volta regional public health emergency committee and called for more education for the people of the region to appreciate the dangerous nature of the disease.

Members of the caucus and the Volta regional minister will visit the Aflao border post to obtain COVID-19 situational report on Thursday, April 16.
