The Deputy Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Banda, Ibrahim Ahmed, has reiterated that the purported rejection of the 2022 Budget by the Minority in Parliament was a way of exercising their democracy responsibility.

According to him, they do not want to stand serving but want to represent the people thus fighting for their right.

” A democratic state needs a strong opposition to make the government serve the interests of the people “, he explained.

He appeared on the GTV Breakfast Show.

He however stated that the Minority is not rejecting the entire budget, but some portions like the E- levy and the ‘Agyapa’ deal.

” …. that will lead to the collapse of other businesses and put the future generations in danger”, he noted.

He added that they rather want the opportunity to engage the Minister of Finance and the President to have a fair understanding to come into an agreement.

The Deputy Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Banda, Ibrahim Ahmed stated that the Budget was not accepted, based on Constitutional provisions.
