The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has selected the wife of the slain Member of Parliament for Mfantseman, Mrs. Ophelia Hayford, to contest the seat on the ticket of the Party in the 2020 Parliamentary election.

Mrs. Hayford works as a security agent with Interpol and had been married to the late Ekow Kwansah Hayford for years.

Mr. Kwansah Hayford was killed last Friday by supposed robbers as he was returning after campaigning in some communities.

The Party said the process for her filing as an aspirant on the ticket of the Party has begun. The wife was said to have agreed to contest the seat after NPP officials appealed to her.

A Party source noted that it is important that the NPP remained tactical in the choice of a replacement for the late member of Parliament whom it described as affable and hardworking saying he had worked hard to win the hearts of the constituents.
