President Akufo-Addo Determined To Get Every Child To School

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says he is determined to ensure that  every Ghanaian child of school age is able to attain formal education  to 2nd cycle school as the basic exit point.
To this end, the double track system which is a smart measure to address congestion at the senior high schools at the start of the next academic year beginning from next month, will be implemented and therefore called for the support of the church.

President Akufo-Addo said this in Kumasi on Tuesday, August 14, 2018, at the official opening of the 29th biennial Executive Council Meeting of the Assemblies of God, Ghana.

The Assemblies of God was introduced in Ghana in 1931. The church, which is a member of the  Ghana Council of Pentecostal and Charismatic Churches, currently has a total of 506 thousand, 606 members worshipping in the four thousand, 136 congregations located across the country.
This year’s biennial General Council Meeting which is on the theme: “Manifesting the Gift of the Spirit” is being has Ministers from all branches and other officials reviewing activities of the church in the last two years.
The climax of the five-day event will be the election of new national Executives including the General Superintendent to ran affairs of the church in the next four years.
“I urged the Church to partner with Government in the collective agenda of uplifting the moral, political, spiritual and economic life of the Ghanaian people, and, thereby, help accelerate the pace of development of the country.” President Akufo-Addo
The Director in charge of the West Africa mission of the church, Reverend Randy Tarr, asked ministers of the church to leave their comfort zones and reach out to the hinterlands in the pursuit of the great commission of Jesus Christ in the quest of winning more souls for the kingdom of God. The church must also focus on evangelism instead of material and worldly things and allow God to take care of their needs.
The outgoing General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Prof. Frimpong Manso, advocated the enactment of a legislation by the state to compel all churches including the sole proprietorship commonly called One Man Churches to submit to the Ghana Revenue Authority for scrutiny, their annual financial statement. This will allow the state to know what the monies the churches take from the people are used for.
President Akufo-Addo emphasized that an Act of Parliament will be enacted to back the free senior high school policy to make it compulsory for every child of school going age to attain secondary education as the minimum exit point saying the education is the key to personal and national development.
President Akufo-Addo who ended his five (5)-day working visit of the Ashanti Region, called for a partnership between the church and state in advancing the political and economic aspirations of the citizens.
