President Akufo-Addo restates committment to end political vigilantism

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated his desire to stamp out the phenomenon of vigilantism which is creeping into the body politic of the country.

Describing the phenomenon as worrying, President Akufo-Addo said vigilantism has no space in the new Ghana and promised to get rid of it.

President Akufo-Addo stated this when he met with the Ghanaian Community in Malta as part of his two day official visit to that Country.

He assured them of a better days ahead and called for support as government puts the country on the path of growth and prosperity.

The two day historic state visit at the invitation of the Maltese President is a reciprocal gesture by President Akufo Addo.

The visit will strengthen the already good relations between the two countries.

President Akufo-Addo addressed the Ghanaian Community in Malta on day one of his state visit.

He touched on Ghana’s exist from the International Monetary Fund, (IMF) programme noting that never again should the country seek bailout from the programme.

He called for discipline in the management of the public finances adding that the lack.of discipline can lead to chaos.

The President said the latest IMF programme should be a wake up call for Ghana to live within its means and avoid excessive expenditure.

On political matters back home, the President said vigilantism has no space in Ghana’s political dispensation. Adding that his government will get rid of it.

While on the visit, the President will today hold talks with his Maltese counterpart at the Magisterial Palace in Valletta.

He is also billed to meet the country’s Prime Minister Dr. Joseph Muscat, opposition leader Adrian Delia, and the Speaker of Parliament, Anglu Farrugia.

President Akufo-Addo will witness also the signing of some six agreements on Medicines, Bilateral Air Services, Avoidance of Double taxation, Fisheries Cooperation, tourism and the waiver of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports, as well as address a business forum of Maltese and Ghanaian entrepreneurs.
