President Akufo-Addo to open 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Accra

Government to implement Policies to enhance favourable business environment

The President of the Republic of Ghana and Vice-Patron of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to officially open the 66th Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference in Ghana scheduled for Wednesday, October 4th, 2023.

The opening ceremony will be followed with workshops to delve into crucial topics such as security, human rights, the environment, the economy, gender equality, and other cross-cutting issues.

The workshop is expected to focus more on “Combating the Threat of Terrorism to Statehood: the Role of Parliament,” with the Ghana’s Minister in charge of National Security, will be leading the discussions.

In his capacity as the President of the Association, Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Alban S.K Bagbin will preside over the General Assembly on Thursday, October 5th, 2023, and he will also actively participate in all deliberations.

Briefing the Parliamentary Press Corps on the Country’s readiness to host the international Conference, Speaker Bagbin said this year, Parliament of Ghana is celebrating the combined 30th anniversary of the 1992 Constitution, the Parliament, and the Fourth Republic, “marking a remarkable milestone in our journey as a beacon of democracy”.
